Program Aide Training - Gold Award Project

Calling all troop leaders! The future is in our hands, and it is up to us to inspire the next generation of strong, confident, capable female leaders. Preparing our scouts to become Program Aides is a fantastic first step in introducing bright girls to the world of leadership.

Take it from Cassidy, an Ambassador Girl Scout with a passion and a mission. She got her first taste of leadership as an eight-year-old when she led her very first meeting. Since then, she has only continued to grow as a role model and mentor for youth both within Girl Scouts and beyond. One step that was pivotal in Cassidy’s development of adaptability, conflict management, critical thinking, and countless other qualities essential to effective leadership was the training she received to become a Program Aide.

Even so, she recognizes that the resources—both tangible and intangible—available to troop leaders for training Program Aides could be enhanced. To help fill this gap, Cassidy has dedicated her Gold Award project to making this training universal, widely accessible, engaging, and more convenient. Understanding that impactful training relies on accessibility, she designed a new and improved program guide that troop leaders can leverage as a pathway to success. With troops across the country building their onboarding systems around a universalized guide, the goal is to establish a consistent, council-wide standard of excellence. What’s more, she has assembled permanent supply kits for local day camps to further support training activities.

These initiatives—centered on strengthening troop communities and giving back to the world of Girl Scouts—have resulted in a new and improved set of tools and resources for leaders to utilize. Let’s join Cassidy in empowering the next generation of leaders!
